FWR:

Solid blacks, crisp whites and a lovely bit of detail in this photo. Whilst the flowers are pretty, it's the gorgeous leaves that make this shot stand out for me. Lovely tonal image.

bobstafford:

It shows the flowers in superb detail. The lack of colour allows the blooms to stand out and makes this an interesting and lovely image.

I always want context. The blossoms don't look familiar to me, but the leaves do. Something in the rose family, which is unfortunately fairly large. I would love to have known what color the blossoms were. This might have helped with identifying them. smiley - sadface

I think this was an ur-rose, that is a white primrose and it smelt terrific.

I share your pain, then. smiley - cry

The thing about roses, though, is that they come back from the roots if you give them the chance.

That is a lovely image - the leaves do provide great tones, but I particularly like how the black and white highlights the detail in the flowers smiley - biggrin

Roses have many enemies and pests. If a rose bush is growing well, I prefer to let it alone. A little Rose fertilizer isn't bad from time to time either.
