Rousseau had a good thing going with his "Me voila seul" catchphrase. Not that many people are reading him nowadays. You probably are right about not being alone in the universe, but a little bit of this delusion may be necessary to help you get over the fear of writing anything at all.

Depends on the universe - if you write in the notebook on your desk, then lock the notebook away so nobody else can read it, then you are probably alone in that universe, but if you write in h2g2 then people will see you even if you can't see them

They may discover you're not talking to them so they go away, but other times they may think you want to talk to them so they try to understand what you're saying

I wasn't sure whether it had appeared in the Post. If it did, I didn't notice it.

There's a Monarch butterfly that comes to our Common area around 10:30 every morning. Then it visits my yard around 11:00. I think that it then flies about a mile down the road to sample nectar in the plants along the median strip next to the Dedham Mall. Sadly, there are clumps of milkweed that have just been removed by overzealous groundskeepers in the area.

one of my swamp Milkweed plants has holes in the leaves. The holes get bigger all the time, so I think there may be little Monarch caterpillars feast6ing on them.

I'm finding that Swamp Milkweed is a delightful species. It's never as big as Common Milkweed, but if you keep it well watered it has delightful little puink blossoms that smell like vanilla.

The blossoms are pink, not puink.
