From FWR:

Flowers look great in full colour, but black and white, captured beautifully in this one by Sasha, can be just as stunning. The intricate petals draw in the viewers eyes.

Nice choice of dark background makes the details pop. Lovely image.

From bobstafford:

A lovely picture, the excellent focus gives us a perfect striking image on the black background.

Being black and white, you don't know what the real color is. Early this morning I smelled a gorgeous yellow rose. Apparently I got some yellow pollen on my nose -- people commented on it.

Alas, some roses only last for one day. Perfection is hard to preserve -- except in photos.

smiley - biggrin Thanks everyone!

The bloom was a bit faded, so the colour was blotchy peach/pink, but in black and white it has excellent textures smiley - magic

Yes, roses do bloom to 'perfection' for a relatively short time, but I find it is fascinating seeing the shape and colour evolve even when the blooms are fading. At the end of the season I leave the faded blooms on the plant - after the petals fall off I get some lovely little red rosehips, too smiley - biggrin

Some roses make rose hips, and some don't. I like to pair the two types. That way, we get to enjoy the blossoms, but without sacrificing the eventual rose hips. smiley - smiley

(I have a Virginia rose in my yard, and a Carolina rose in a planter in the back yard. I enjoy the single-petal wild roses just as much as the fancier double-petaled ones. They all smell nice, too. smiley - ok
