From FWR:

Textures and lines.

Monochrome photos really emphasise the shapes in the shot. High contrast perfect for this subject.

The crucifix of the electric trunking draws the eye to the textures on the stained ceiling, bringing a feeling of age to CC's photo.

A very important tip for all of us...don't be afraid to look up! Sometimes there's a great shot hovering over our heads. A different perspective on everyday scenes or objects often makes a much more interesting photograph for the viewer.

From bobstafford:

A lot happening here the fantastic texture of the ceiling and the light fittings make this a fascinating shot. Taking those lamps whilst lit was not an easy thing to do that well, nicely done.

Could we have the photographer holding up a cheese as he says, "Say cheese"?

The monochrome cheese photo.

The what??

Wonders which cheese to start with. Which cheese is the most photogenic? Perhaps a crumbling stilton. One could perchance pick up a monochrome cheese mite in the rind, if lucky.

The Monochrome Mite.

Before you get any deeper into the cheesy photography, may I offer you a demonstration of why monochrome cheese is not, well, aesthetic?

(I ran across this example when the black-and-white challenge started.)

Stick to cheesecake...smiley - run

Yeah. But the colour version looks like something you might want to eat: A850754smiley - winkeye

That's why I was experimenting with it. I'd made that photo around Christmas because Tavaron said that entry deserved a better photo than a cheese grater. smiley - rofl

What??? You've ventured into monochrome cheese already?

smiley - cider

But wait! I love this monochrome cheese photo!!I think it looks more tasty and mysterious than the coloured version.

One must eat mysterious cheese. Unless one mustn't.

Now my project is to match your monochrome cheese. heheh.

I'll have to lurk in a cheese shop though. I only buy a little block of cheddar for me at home cos 'es a vegan.

Milking cows does not make them unhappy....oh, heck, I know better than to start that discussion. smiley - rofl

I think they have recently found that feeding cows oregano lessens their flatulence, which is a good thing for the planet...

What?? Re the oregano. Less windy on the farm then. smiley - rofl

I know, the dairy/no dairy debate. E's not a total vegan. Launches into cheese sometimes like a slavering wolfman Heheh.

My Dad was a diary farmer in the 60s.. The coos always looked fine to me. I was brought up on unpasteurized milk, warm from the churn. On the cornflakes. Actually that made me a bit queasy sometimes. smiley - illsmiley - rofl

I guess it depends on farm conditions.

(returns to thinking about monochrome cheese masterpiece)

I guess you oregano make puns about flatulence. smiley - groan

If one less cow produces flatulence, will the planet even detect it? smiley - erm
