That's the most beautiful bird I've ever seen

Does beauty make one shy? If so, it's understandable that this lovely creature would fly away if it realizes you're looking at it. But, still smiley - sadface.

Southern Arizona is where I would have to go if I wanted to see the Elegant Trogon.

If I won't go to see tropical creatures, my only other recourse is to lure the migratory ones to my yard. Monarch butterflies are basically tropical. When we have warm weather here in the North, they visit us. They have to be fed, though, and that's why so many of my friends want to plant Milkweed for their caterpillars to eat. I've planted eight Milkweed plants, and have two more that are waiting to go into the ground (If I'm not too lazy today, I will do that this afternoon. Warning: today is as close to perfect weather as I will ever find. Why should I toil too hard?).

Of course, when it's this nice, I wouldn't want to stay inside. So, I will be outside, and I will want to have something to do....

But, I've let the topic drift. Sorry about that. I can't hope to see Trogons in my yard, but I regularly see Blue Jays, Robins, and various black birds in my yard. They'll do, especially if they bring Goldfinches with them. If they're here looking for worms, I can claim some credit, as I keep my plants watered and mulched and fertilized. A very tidy place, except where the perennial sunflowers have been sprouting where I don't want them smiley - cross.

Anyway, whenever I do any digging, I find lots of earthworms.

Hi again! Well most African bird species actually look pretty much like these:

Bright colours are really the exception!

Good about the earthworms!

My own garden has lots of butterfly-attracting plants ...
