I'm glad you and your companion made it safely back. I don't think you had that much of an adventurous trek in mind, but it was certainly a unique experience in a remote part of the world. You guys will always have the memories. Be grateful about living in a mild temperate country.

I've been reading about the Hunzas, who live on the other side of Afghanistan from Kyrgistan. You might not live as long as they do, but it will certainly *seem* like a long time. 
I've never been to the Himalayas. Mounts Washington and Katahdin were tall enough for me.
