I'm quite glad these hell pigs have died out. I think they would have been scary.smiley - yikes Though the small brain suggests they might not have been very bright.

They look like part wolf, part buffalo, and part donkey. But they were related to whales? Go figure! smiley - erm

Hi folks, thanks for the responses! I personally like scary animals … there's not much that's scarier than a lion, an elephant, a rhino or a hippo … if you're out hiking in the wild and stumble upon one! I've had some good scares. Still I like all of those scary beasites!

Paulh, that's the funny thing about how evolution can mold the shapes of things. I hope to sometime get to the whole story of whale-and-dolphin evolution. The very first 'whales' were small things looking like pigs crossed with dogs. Totally terrestrial.

Big dogs are the scariest animals I've encountered. Unless you count a snapping turtle long ago, when I was a kid.
