Chicory would be welcome any morning, but I'm not sure is that's what the plant in the picture is.

The rain will move north and hit Boston Monday night and Tuesday.

I had thought it was a thistle but there were no nettles or thorns on the plant. I think it might be a milkweed plant since I have been noticing big tumbleweeds of plant fluff that is similar to dandelion heads sailing by the post's porch.

Milkweed leaves are much more rounded than that.

The leaves and buds resemble chicory

It did not have a blue aster type flower on it like chickory does.

If it ever blooms, that could be a clue top its species. Sowthistle has dandelion-like flowers.

Lactuca Virosa (wild lettuce or opium lettuce) has p[ain-relieving qualities.

Yes. smiley - laugh Now that the gutter is clear, we no longer get drowned on the porch in sudden rainstorms.
