I cant think of anything in my drab, wretched daily life that would be interesting enough to compare with the spectacle of televised sports or the massive sinkhole that is Washington, D.C.

The afternoons here are so hot that I lay down a beach towel in my backyard, and I sit on the towel and read or admire my perennial sunflowers and my little potted plum tree. Adventure? Hardly. I can almost see you as you read this.

The highlights of my day are pretty banal: swimming 24 laps in an indoor pool filled with screaming kids (many of whom insist on swimming across the pool's width while I'm doing the lengths ), or watering the myriad plants in my yard and the common areas along the perimeters of the park. My mid-afternoon break is my one luxury: coffee (iced coffee lately) and an eclair or other yummy.

See? My life is so boring that five days go by without comment.

Well, I for one didn't want to say that....

Be patient with me, Dmitri. I do get ideas for things, and they come to me when I least expect them. Maybe I will get one soon or later....

Take all the time you want.

One possibility is the adventure that becomes necessary when I misplace things. I've searched for my watering can for days. I finally found it today, and one of the women in my neighborhood saw me with it and assumed that I'm one of those wackos who water their gardens in the rain.

Yes, the lost watering can is the perfect jumping off place for the adventure that is my life .
