Rabbits escape. For not-very-intelligent animals, they're very good at it.

When my son had a rabbit, she had liking for escaping and then hiding in a prickly bush.smiley - laugh How she knew we couldn't get at her there, I don't know. Inherited memories of rabbit escape techniques, I suppose.

There are at least two rabbits in my yard, one large and one small. They hide under the branches of an evergreen in front of my house. smiley - erm

The little one chewed on some of my bean plants, but I sprayed a mixture of garlic powder, chili powder, and dishwashing liquid on the leaves. Since then, the rabbit has left my bans along. smiley - tongueout

Great photos of the cute rabbits! Glad the story had a positive ending - well done on getting through to the authorities eventually smiley - ok Your black and white rabbit sounded cute, too, with his big bobtail!

Interesting recipe for a rabbit deterrent, paulh - I know someone else who struggles with rabbits in their garden so I will suggest that!

To be honest, even when I'm worrying about the damage my local rabbits might do to my gardens, I'm still flattered that they think my gardening is worth admiring. So, we have differences of opinion as to how my plants should be admired.

Communication is hard, though. I sometimes plant greens for the rabbits to eat, but they don't touch them, preferring my cherished Coneflowers or asters. smiley - sadface

No. All I would get is cardboard cutouts of rabbits, while the real rabbits are eating my stuff.

Well, they don't have as many complex things to worry about as you and I have. No schoolrooms, no elections, no drivers' licenses to apply for, no taxes to pay. No Internet or social media. They figure out what can be eaten, and when it's safe to do so. They find safe places to go when larger animals come along.
