Two people: Ignatius Loyola and Klemens Von Metternich.
Martin Luther divided Europe along religious lines -- Cathoic versus Protestant -- and then Loyola led the Jesuits in an effort to reassert the Roman Catholic Church's claims on the hearts of the faithful. At last count, there were more than twice as many Catholics and protestants worldwide, so Loyola's efforts seem to have been pretty effective.
Metternicht was part of the counterrevolution against the revolutionaries, particularly the French ones. The Guide has no guide entry on Metternich, so this will have to do:
