Easter Ballistics Update
Energy may be likened to the bending of a crossbow; decision,
to the releasing of a trigger.

NT Hoggett demonstrates the proper way to fire a crossbow. |
It was Easter at the farm, and the weather cooperated by being sunny. (It didn't snow until after dark.) Which means, of course, that it was time for target practice.
Holidays at the Hoggetts' usually involve two things: admiring new animals, and getting a physics lesson. Last Thanksgiving, there was a catapult with pumpkins as ammunition. This Easter, there were crossbows. They looked kind of high-tech, but NT's dad explained the mechanism. He also warned the Post Editor that the steadying hand needed to be kept below the path of the string….failure to observe this rule is why the Post Editor has a bandaged finger.
Hoggetts, of course, are more conscientious, and way more accurate. They hit the target every time.
Oh, and there are baby chicks, baby turkeys, and baby ducks, all of incredible cuteness. Photos to come.
Targets don't look quite the way they did in Robin Hood's day. |
