Just to say I'm still struggling with the Carry On Entries for some reason - the above was just out of interest, but no problem if it isn't relevant to anything else.

Quote:'Men that think bulky, veiny, muscly superheroes are sexualised for women and not a male power fantasy made by men for men have actually in real life never talked to women. That or never actually listened to women. Go on. Ask women what their fictional crushes were, you cowards.'
Nope, can't see how a discussion of sexuality of superhero films has any direct relevance. No superheroes appear in the 'Carry On' films.
The point I was making is that beauty pageants and bodybuilding are comparable and have similarities. That still holds true. I also said 'In body building, men are judged on their physical attributes, and many successful contestants have used this to launch film careers.' The gender of who is doing the judging isn't important.
The fictional character of Emmannuelle does judge the character Harry Hernia on his muscly appearance and considers him sexually desirable, but there is every chance that the people who created the character Emmannuelle 'have actually in real life never talked to women'.

Hi BB
So... I am really sorry. I have tried to read this Entry. My problem is the following: I don't know these films and never heard of them until you started writing about them. For me this Entry was full of names of characters that didn't tell me anything at all. This Entry unfortunately seems to be accessible only to people who have seen these series, not sure if you even have to be a fan.
Also this Entry is really, really long.
So, I think this Entry has a good goal but you should really make it more accessible to a general audience. Please make it a lot shorter and starting with the first paragraph please give those who don't know the films some general information to hold onto.
So, please make it shorter and also give us newbies to the topic some more information. (sounds contradicting )
You're a great writer, I'm sure you'll get it done.

Nothing to apologise for. You're not going to understand everything in every entry in h2g2. There are lots of entries in h2g2 I don't understand and know anything about, c'est la vie.
To a large extent you don't really need to know anything about the characters – they are all fairly one-dimensional and exist as bare clothes hangers for the writers to hang jokes off of, though worn and brought to life by a talented cast. Nevertheless I've made a couple of minor tweaks, especially to the introduction. (I must admit that as the entry seems doomed to spend all eternity in Peer Review not going anywhere any way, it is hard to find the motivation to make any big changes. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if occasionally one of my entries doesn't get through.)
