the local sports club (of which I am somewhat surprisingly a member)organises this on alternate Fridays. I never thought I would turn into this sort of elderly lady, Sometimes on my holidays from exotic parts I used to take an elderly lady on a brisk walk down to the club and now I have become one.
Actually it's quite a nice social evening with a subsidised bar. there were about 50 of us there tonight and I won local sausages and pork chops, both of which will be delicious. One big advantage of living in such a small town (it's a village really, but technically a town) is that I know the man who slaughters the pigs and the man who makes the sausages. Between them we could work out the pigs names; I recently had a superb piece of beef and the butcher told me which farm it was reared on
