Actually I just checked that quote cos I don't know as much about Shelley as I should. It's amazing how many of the quote I do know, though, without realising.

I'm getting into a Shelley phase.

What??? He was born near Horsham in West Sussex?? That's quite near where I come from, originally.

Why am I surprised that Shelley was born in Sussex? I suppose its because these type poets take on a godlike status, and you think they might be born in some kind of temple, with pillars, with people in robes wafting around, in gardens not this earth.

Mind you, its nice around Horsham.

Maybe that's why he and his friends were always hanging out in trendy places like the Aegean and Switzerland. So nobody would say, 'Sussex? Who's poetic in Sussex?'

I think they would have fit right in during the 60s, though. I can see Shelley, Byron, and Keats in Greenwich Village.

Picasso was in Sussex also. I remember when I saw this pic of him having tea at Farley Farm, again I was astounded that it was Sussex

I don't know why I'm so astounded. Sussex is home to the Bloomsbury Group, Mervyn Peake, Ravilious, lotsa lotsa artists, there's always been a notable arts scene there.

Perhaps its also to do with people from paintings, not photographs. . If they're in a portrait, before the camera, they're even more immortal.

It's very interesting though. And I guess famous people live everywhere. Especially before they were famous. Have to be born somewhere.

So far, we haven't run into too many artistic people up here...
Art tastes here run to furniture made of antlers. I am not making that up.

Artists in this region head south to Pittsburgh - which, as you know, is the home of Gertrude Stein and Andy Warhol.

Furniture made from antlers???? I love it.

What's the chances of a photo, or, better, a gheorgheniplex cartoon.

Heavens! I had no idea that Gertrude Stein and Wahol came from Pittsburgh.

I'll have to see if I can get some pictures of antler furniture. Today, we looked at non-antler furniture. The kind with umlauts in - Ikea. The folks were viewing furniture to get ideas for the 'tiny house' that's going up over at the farm as a guesthouse.

But that gives me an idea for a Christmas gift...hehe...

We have a new Ikea being built on the edge of Exeter. We pass the construction site every day. It's huge!! Made out of steel girders by the look of it.

I find antler furniture rather lovely. I was looking at some on Google images. The Antler/Ikea range. . Perhaps I'll drop in some flyers.
