It's very sensible to plan a year in advance.
When you're booking accommodations, be careful to avoid what happened to my family when we went to Hana, a town at the southern tip of Maui. We found out that our motel was next to a chicken farm, and we were awakened early every morning by roosters. I know you want to get away from it all, even if for a short time, so check out the neighborhood.

I've added Leeds Castle, because you said Tom likes castles.
It's in the garden of England. Nowhere near Leeds. http://www.leeds-castle.com

I've also added Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, and also in the garden of England. They have jousting weekends every July. http://www.hevercastle.co.uk/

I've added Dover Castle too, although the marker seems to place it in the sea. It isn't!

Any woman who has ever waited in line for Filene's Basement to open will be well-equipped for jousting .

Hi Amy, I've successfully pinned Dover Castle back on dry land, so can you now delete the green marker which had it floating off to France.
How much does Tom love castles? I could add quite a few more in and around the Garden of England. Does he like turrets? Moats? Ruins or restored? Big or small? Is it the architecture or the history he likes best?

I'll have to ask him, but in a few days. We sell fireworks every year and, while the selling part is done, we've got the paperwork to do. And PaperKid's 13th birthday is a week from yesterday... I foresee discussing our 20th anniversary plans while we are celebrating our 19th

Here's an interactive map of all the castles in the UK. http://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryMagazine/DestinationsUK/CastlesinEngland/
What I should really do is mark the other two original Royal castles of Kent. Dover is one, the others are Rochester and Canterbury although they are just ruins.
