So no one had AA Gill then. I admit I hadn't heard of him till a couple of months ago. He obviously polarised the British public.

I've probably read his stuff without thinking who wrote it. Sad loss - we need heretics.

He also performed his manoeuvre, for the first time in a real-life situation, recently. What a legacy! RIP

With the holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving. As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends. Well last night I was out for an evening with friends and had several beers followed by some shots. Feeling jolly I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a taxi home. Sure enough on the way home there was a police road block but since it was a taxi they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident. This was a real surprise as I had never driven a taxi before, I don't know where I got it and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it !

I didn't realise she was still alive or she'd have been on my list but to say Zsa Zsa Gabor has gone to join the silver sirens of yesteryear.

The only thing I knew her for was "Green Acres". I shall no doubt be singing the theme tune all day, now. She certainly lived life to the full.

Green Acres was not Zsa Zsa - it was her younger sister Eva.
Eva died in 1995.

Oh. Eva - so it was.
I was just reading on the BBC about whether more celebs have died this year, as it would seem so to most people. There certainly was a huge rise in comparison to other years between January and March.
But celebrity is not always definable. And those that the BBC mentioned are not necessarily the definitive list.
Anyway - must go and look into my bets for next year now. Perhaps it'll swing the other way.

So sorry to hear that the Rabbi has gone.
His thought for the day on Radio 4 was one of my highlights of the day.
Funny and thought provoking. I got the impression that he was a really nice guy.
