You can call me TC

Can't believe no one hat Simon Peres on their list. It's just been announced that he died 2 weeks ago.

whoops, sorry. On re-reading (well, it's early morning for my brain) I correct that. He had a stroke 2 weeks ago and after a recovery, died this morning, Tel Aviv time.

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

I can't believe this awesome person isn't on anyone's let, including mine.

I didn't realise this person created the truly amazing St Martin's in the Field Chamber Orchestra, or that it has created the largest volume of recorded chamber music in the world.

Thank you for all the music, Sir Neville Mariner. You have given myself and a great many people globally a great deal of pleasure. And you will continue to do so for many years to come.

Rest in Peace, Sir Neville Mariner. You sure packed a great deal into your 92 years.

Yes, he certainly popularised chamber music for a new generation. Personally I prefer the recordings made with period instruments, but they probably wouldn't exist today without Marriner's work.

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk

I was listening to some Mariner just the other day but, not knowing anything about him, I assumed he died centuries ago...

One that strikes home to me. And probably gives DNA a quirky smile.

I came across Shooglanigty through a neighbour who worked in Borneo with Orang-Uganda. She.heard someone playing music and burnt it onto her MP3 then introduced it to me. Two years later I saw them at Broadstairs Folk Week promoting TROOTS.

And so I bid farewell to Angus R Grant, fiddler for Shooglenifty
You have provided me, my friends and the people in Borneo
who look after orphaned Orang-Utans a great deal of pleasure.

I listened to that on the radio recently. It starred Adrian Edmonson. Gloriously absurd, as most things he does are. <3

I am surprised that it has not been noted that King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand passed away in the last few days.

He was the world's longest-reigning monarch before his death and greatly loved in Thailand, the mourning will be long and quite complex.
