Superfrenchie

I almost only ever buy cheap ebooks. Some are just cheap to begin with, with the quality (or lack thereof) that goes with it; others are special offers. Others yet, I get for free from Project Gutenberg when they're in the public domain.

In the past few months, I've gone through several short stories collections that were on special offer.
I've read a collection of apocalypse short stories, that contained stories about just before the disaster, stories about the disaster itself, and stories about the aftermath.
I'm now in the middle of a collection of a locked room mysteries. There's the man who was shot while he was all alone in his study, but that's the only one I had heard of before, so it's pretty enjoyable.

I've also taken the opportunity to read classics that I hadn't had the chance to read yet. Jane Eyre, for example (I got the French translation, for some reason...).

I still do love tree books, though, and can't see myself giving them up.
But I have to admit that ebooks are convenient, and although I miss the feel and the smell of the paper, I really really like my reader.
So much easier than dragging along 854 paperbacks !

I don't like the fact that people kill trees to make books. smiley - laugh

Oh, I don't mind paper books. But they could make the paper out of hemp. Or rags. Or linen. Or papyrus...

I'll go away now. I hope you enjoy 'Jane Eyre' more than I ever did. smiley - hug

Well, I guess the tree paper is less expensive to make.
Rag paper is luxury, it's usually thicker.

I did enjoy Jane Eyre. Partly because of the story, and partly because it raelly helped me to make sense of "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde, which I had read before. smiley - laugh

You can call me TC

I'm afraid I can't get on with books since the advent of the Kindle I tried reading one the other day and it flopped all over the place and I kept losing my page. And no matter how hard I pressed a word, no little box popped up to tell me what it meant.

You have to be careful sometimes when ordering and downloading books. (I take it you got the Jane Eyre in French by mistake.) Sometimes I forget to check the language and I found I had Dickens version in the German translation.

I love Jasper Fforde, too. I managed to cheat my way through the Eyre Affaire because I'd watched the film shortly before.

Yes, it happened with another one too (a supernatural detective story): they had kept the English title, so I got really confused when I noticed after a few pages.
Yes, it took me that long to realise which language I was reading ! smiley - laugh
