I have recently rediscovered my pressure cooker.
I use it mostly for soups because, as I seem to get the cooking times wrong, whatever I'm planning to cook always ends up as soup anyway.
So I usually just chop vegetables and chuck them in, and then let it all cook.
I sometimes add some meat.
Being a little lazy when it comes to cooking, I usually use meats that don't require too much cutting up, like minced beef or chicken breast.
(hey, I'm ready to dice the veg already, but don't ask too much from me!).
Tonight I endeavoured to make chicken curry.
Perhaps future generations will come to know it as "chicken curry a la SF"...
I had chicken.
I had curry powder.
I had various vegetables.
So chicken curry it was.
I ended up with something almost but not quite entirely unlike chicken curry.
I chopped zucchini, carrots and potatoes into cubes. And an onion.
I cut up the chicken breasts into bitesize pieces.
I threw the onion and chicken in, let them turn golden, and then unceremoniously chucked the rest in, adding half a litre of vegetable stock and a generous portion of curry powder.
Closed the lid.
Waited.
(Actually, I didn't just stand around waiting, I watched an episode of Murdoch Mysteries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murdoch_Mysteries ).
I then stuck the cooker under cold water to release the pressure.
And I opened.
Yep.
Soup.
But nicely-coloured, great-smelling soup.
So all the bits were recognisable, and I reckon it'll need some sour cream added, but it looks promising.
I've divided the load into five containers, enough for one meal each.
Tomorrow when it's gone cold, I'll put four of them in the freezer, and keep the fifth for lunch.

As much as I love a pressure cooker - that's not something I would have used it for. Wouldn't it have cooked just as well in a saucepan, especially as you watched TV while it was cooking?
But I do agree with you that everything does really taste better when it's well-cooked and soupy.

Yes, TC, a saucepan would probably have been more appropriate, but I was doing it For Science
