Interesting - I learned a lot from this, as I watched all of these in at least one of the forms mentioned smiley - ok

Updated to include the 21st Century 'The Muppets'.

(Just don't get me started on the new, charmless, 'Bob the Builder'
'Can We Ruin It?' – 'Yes We Can!')

Was Shining Time Station a Thomas and Friends reinvention? Or was it an import? The earliest series had Ringo Starr as Mr Conductor who narrated the Thomas stories but was also a character in the live-action portion of the show. He was succeded by George Carlin, and later I think Alex Baldwin.

You made a very good point there – I've now added a bit about 'Shining Time Station' in the Thomas section, as well as a new section at the top of the entry of how programmes often change between the UK and US due to time restrictions – hope this makes sense.smiley - smiley

That makes a lot of sense... I had no idea that was how Shining Time Station came about. The idea of a 4-minute program would have been very foreign to a US market back then. Now it's a little more common, especially in childrens' programming on cable networks. Shaun the Sheep comes to mind.

You've duplicated the information about the movie now, though. Probably one of the references can be reomoved.

I still think this is really interesting, and find it fascinating that since 2015 I have encountered an example of a cartoon that was overdubbed and had its length tweaked so it could be double banked into the schedules!

Sally Bollywood is a French Canadian production, so it was dubbed in French and English and on UK TV it is broadcast in groups of four to the hour and the end credit sequence is only played once in the hour to squeeze all four episodes in with adverts in between!

Since 2015 I've seen the US Robot Wars series too smiley - ok

I think the structure of the Entry could be tightened up a bit to make it flow, so I'll post this now and then have a read through...

The second paragraph could do with being in a new section, with header something like Cartoons. Alternatively, the paragraphs before the Muppet section could be brought together into a general Differences section before leading into the specific examples...

"tends to broadcast children's programmes between longer presenter segments than commercial channels"

I know what this means now because I've read your Entry about CBBC, but I'm not sure it is clear in this Entry. I think the words could be deleted and the paragraph would still make the right point

"In order for this to happen, some British programmes that are too long edit parts out when shown in America, as happened with The Muppet Show. "

This needs tweaking because it isn't the programmes that are doing the editing! Also the Muppet Show hasn't been mentioned yet, so this reads oddly...

I'm not quite clear about the Muppets - the first two are UK productions and the 2015 one is the American reinvention?

I notice you include several dates in the header for Thomas the Tank Engine - do you want to do the same for The Mr Men?

Have you seen the new SuperTed?

smiley - ok

I've made a few changes as suggested, mainly tweaks here and there so hopefully it will flow better. Let me know what you think!

Sadly it appears that the new 'SuperTed' still seems to be in development. I've added that Naomie Harris, whose first starring role was in 'The Tomorrow People' remake, is now an OBE (for services to Drama) and is Oscar-nominated (sadly she didn't win the BAFTA last night). But will they release the 1990s 'Tomorrow People' on DVD, eh?

That's interesting about SuperTed not being ready yet... I'm not sure I'd be keen on a remake, as the original series was very memorable to me - particularly the one where a magician cut Spotty in half (just enough excitement without being overpowering as it all worked out well in the end). Then again the remake of My Little Pony brought something new to the stories as well as enabling people to reminisce about the original series, so it would probably be OK.

1990s Tomorrow People on DVD would be excellent indeed - that was a good series smiley - ok I haven't seen any of the original series, but the similarities and differences make it sound like that would be good to watch too...

Sadly Naomie Harris didn't win the Oscar (she wasn't even accidentally awarded Best Film). 'Moonlight' did win Best Film, though (I love the fact they talk about it having a '100% African American cast' - actually, Naomie Harris is British, but I know what you meansmiley - winkeye)
