I hope that things will get better for you an all carers in the UK. You are tremendously undervalued and deserve all the help the gov't can provide you with. I wish you and R a much better new year---hopefully with fewer Catch22's and a more responsive bureaucracy.

Thanks elek. I do try to keep finding things to write about, but some things are improving, not least since I got a job.

I don't know how likely it is; but you may just get help from the people at Welfare Rights. My husband gets the higher rate of DLA and although I am entitled to claim carer's allowance, I haven't bothered because they simply take that amount from his benefit.
