A Conversation for I Couldn't Care Less: Who Makes the List?

How sweet smelleth the carer?

Caring for a six month old and caring for a 38 year old can both be quite demanding - and require similar amounts of time (admittedly, the lifting is easier for the 6 month old).

I think carers should be assisted by expert help and by cash. However, where is the line between family members shopping, cooking, paying bills, making decisions for and on behalf of each other and adult caring? Beats me. It is one of those things I might not even know if I saw it.

Perhaps the disability allowance should include a carer's component - calculated on a different scale (some disabilities can be worked around, but require a large caring component (enervating conditions) while others are quite severe but life can continue without a carer (limb loss et al)). I know this wouldn't work either (as it ignores the needs of the carer and that is the person who needs the money).

Anyway, you have written another great piece, as always.
