In the US there has been a scandal with our Veteran's Administration hospitals---very ill elderly people have been on long waiting lists to see specialists and the institutions have been playing hideaway with the paperwork to continue to get funding. Obama has been angered at this. It is a shabby way of repaying these peoples sacrifices for the country.

It is also indicates a lack of caring when mental issues and disability claims are delayed. People are not pretending to be ill just to get a hand out. Are the people involved just as uncaring when it is their family members who are suffering? One wonders. Also putting up hoops to make depressed or sick people worse certainly costs the ratepayers a LOT more in the end.

Hi elek. Thanks for the link, I will check it out if I ever get time. I have to say from the outside looking in I am perpetually baffled by America's attitude to health care. Mind you, I find a lot of things about America baffling, there's a lot to be said for the argument that we're not as similar as we think we are.
