I KNOW it's only 28 April. But I've got a full schedule this week, so while I was waiting for my next work email, I thought I'd let you in on a piece of plant lore for May Create.
Colonel Johnson: America's answer to Mad Jack Fuller.
Has anybody actually eaten one of these tomato things? Perhaps they could share their experiences.

Yep – I knew it was you from the title. Another excellent read that I can't add any more to – but on your question regarding tomatoes, before going to Uni I had a summer job for Wight Salads, which grows over 300 different varieties of organic tomatoes including Red Tiger and Green Zebra.

The only thing I wondered about when I read this was about the ?myth of eating tomatoes off a pewter plate contributing to the fear of them being poisonous. I remember it being mentioned on QI, but I don't remember the outcome...

Thanks, you two!
'The Red Tiger of the Isle of Wight'. That has a ring to it.
I'll see what I can find about that pewter. That sounds intriguing, and it could be.
I've eaten off pewter, and all I noticed was that it really keeps cold things cold and hot things hot.
If you're ever in Philadelphia, try a meal at City Tavern. They use pewter for a colonial experience -and a flagon iced shrub will freeze your fingers off.

A very good Entry!
Yes, I do eat tomatoes, although they contain histamine and I should not have too much of that. I even grow them in pots on my balcony.
I can only suggest a few internal links:
