You got me checking 'as thick as' phrases. As thick as thieves, as thick as two short planks, I wonder what's the origin of these? They're not as good as the Foggy dialogue though. .

I can't find one for "thick as a workhouse sandwich"
but "landing lights on, but no one's at home"
and "about as much use as a chocolate fire-guard"
cover the same "thicko genre"
