I, too, take her point, as will many of us.
It raises an old chestnut to which there's probably no single answer.
The Whos and the Whys are all-important here, eh?
One imagines that most, if not all of us would want to help, even at some risk - but we probably will never know.
How to reply to that?

In the example I gave in my conclusion we probably, hopefully, will never know. But the point I aimed to make with the rest of my piece was that there is still plenty of room for us all to be brave if we wish to.

well yes, of course, but then I as an individual have no wish to 'be brave' but hope that I would be if the occasion arose.
