h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It hardly ever rains here. It is nice cause I don't have to water some of my plants. Some of them I have to water anyway because they're under the patio roof. They do better there because the patio faces south and the plants seem to do better with some shade. I have some that should have flowered, and haven't and probably would if they were getting more sun, but Otherwise they are healthy. Most of them are cactus or succulents which dont' need much water anyway. But they're particular about when they get water. Some of them want regular water during the winter and some during the summer. I don't really have a good handle on which are which yet.

I am a member as well as the President of my local Cactus and Succulent Society. How did that happen you ask? Well, I was enjoying being the Vice President of the club where I was responsible for procuring speakers for our meetings. At the beginning of the second year of my term as VP the newly elected president resigned for "Personal reasons" which were that she couldn't get along with a couple of the more overbearing members of the existing board. She didn't have my email down correctly, so I did not even receive the email in which she quit. I just got a text from The Secretary asking me if I was ready to run the meeting that week which I was not.

We have two vice presidents, but I was 1st VP so I got to be President as well as the speaker coordinator for the next year. The year after that, I got someone else to be the VP for Speakers. He is very good at it, better than I was. He was always nagging me with suggestions for speakers before I asked him to be VP for Speakers so he deserved the post.

The position of President of that club causes me a great deal of anxiety. I'm hoping next year will be better and I'm hoping the year after that we can find someone else to be president. We couldn't find anyone this year so I'm in my third year. Right now I have to write "The President's Letter" for the newsletter. It is one of my least favorite things to do. And the deadline is in about 10 minutes so I've got to get to it.
