I think this would be pretty easy for me! The only thing I eat off that list is sugar (not much) and cooking fat, I guess they weren't talking olive oil.
Hummm though I do rely heavily on hummus, harrisa, tofu and pulses.

I'm imagining trying to find tofu during World War II. Or hummus.
I don't know for sure, but I doubt olive oil would have been easy to get in the UK in the 1940s, due to shipping problems. Just my guess.

Wow, that diet is something, KB, I'm really looking forward to read about how you made out on it. I know that with so little , I'd lose weight.

Yep, it would be very vegan/veggie friendly! I'm trying to stick within the spirit of it, so nothing too exotic. I am allowing myself frozen veg though, since it tends not to be as mushy as tinned.
But I steadfastly refuse to boil everything into a 1940s-British-cook-style pulp!
And I'm zealously guarding my special tasty dry-cured bacon. I think that will be a Saturday morning treat.
Tell you what, though - it makes for very healthy eating!

Is that why you suggested lunch out on Friday?

This experiment is having an odd effect on my shopping habits. I'm finding myself buying all these delicacies I can't have!
Lunch today with Bea and Mal was a little victory, though: I bravely resisted the urge to steal the butter off everyone's tables.
I find myself turning into Homer Simpson. I keep lifting the lid of the little box of Camembert, prodding it lightly for ripeness, and drooling...

May I ask you why you have undertaken this interesting project,KB. It seems a bit draconion to do on a whim. Are you writing it up for some publication or is it the result of a bet with one of your relatives?
