Kayakers make it look so simple when it does require a sophisticated technique. It sounds as once you get it down it should provide wonderful conditioning for your core. Russell Crowe and a colleague cadged a lift with the US Coast guard near New York City this weekend.

Thanks for your comments Elektragheorghini, they're much appreciated.
The fact of the matter is that it's taking much too long to get my Mojo working. It escapes me almost completely at the present. I had the pleasure of watching some of the 200 meter sprint heats in the Olympics last month, including the semi-final won by the eventual Gold medal winner Ed McKeever. That’s real class, technique is everything!
The Wey is really a very protected strip of water without any adverse conditions which is great to practice on, but I don't feel anywhere near ready yet to venture out onto the open water of the Thames and all that entails, but I'm working on it. Mr Crowe seems to have been very lucky there, I certainly don't think I'll be taking to the open sea anytime soon either.
But after this last week it can't get much worse (I hope). Onwards and upwards though.

It must require a lot of practice. Don't get discouraged by watching people do it who literally have done it for years! After all you just started doing it recently and you were not in your teen years or early twenties whe you started. Keep up the good work, one of these days the mojo will come!
