Parkrun: Newbury
Bluebottle Posted Jun 14, 2016
Before starting the Endure 24 on Saturday I thought I'd bag a nearby Parkrun, and so went to Newbury's Parkrun. This is located at Greenham Common, Berkshire – famous for housing Weapons Mass Destruction, specifically the nuclear weapons at RAF Greenham Common, although I'm not sure whether the course itself runs over the site of the airfield or the former Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp (1982-2000) . If you travel down the A34, it's just where the large concrete cone water tower is.
It is a 5-mile single-lap course, which is disconcertingly accessed via an industrial estate. Essentially you run in a straight line for over 2k, then do a loop back. There's lots of gorse, the tracks are gravel and it is flat.

A fairly straightforward prom run, back and forth along the seafront.
