I'm at home now, sure mum has one (plus at home is only way I can get access to oven, etc)

Love short terms.

alright for some!
mind you - I sit the 12 hour train journey test on Saturday

Post 45

12 hours? Noooooo!
I had to clear out my room so the interviewees could live in it for a bit, all my stuff would need a lot of train.

yup - Scotland to Cornwall - long trip.

However, I hear Virgin trains now have laptop plugs, and I have a DVD-rom so I shall just sit back

In 12 hrs you could watch a LOT of DVD. (3 x extended FotR, + a short film, maybe shrek)

we have a good 10 hours of West Wing to watch (I just got housemate addicted to it!) plus a few other things, inc. LOTR!

Post 49

Catwoman

Don't watch west wing personally. What you want is 24!

Bets against Stephen Fry

Post 50

Swiv (decrepit postgrad)

nah... didn't take to the idea of that.

West Wing is fantabulous.
I did ask for Band of Brothers for xmas - that'd keep me going for 12 hours

Post 51

Oh, but 24 is so good! Ignore the gimmicky stuff, and it;s great, especially if you like twistyness in a series.

Why are conversations attached to pages I create not getting flagged up on my space? Hmm.

If it has any news value to you at all, the latest word on the next Dumbledore is that the list includes Christopher Lee (IMHO too evil), Peter O'Toole (too dissipated), Stephen Fry (too young, and anyway, he's playing Sirius), and Tom Baker (highly tempting but surely better suited to play Mad-eye Moody as he's a) Mad-eyed and b)moody).

BTW, if you want to check the article out again you'll find it has magically transformed into a review of the year's best film...

For those of you visiting from future times, the review this thread originally referred to can now be found at A883884. Thanks...

How utterly incredibly confusing!

mmm Tom Baker as Mad-Eye ooooh

Christopher Lee aparently finds it insulting to be thought of as in the running for the role so soon after Harris' death. O'Toole's just too scraggy, they should cameo him as the wizard in the nightdress at the Quidditch World Cup.
I want Paul Schofield - and every time I say that people think I mean Philip! or Ian Richardson.

I read (in The Sun, so not very convincing) that it had been leaked that Ian Mckellan was going to be Dumbledore. Someone's having a laugh, I reckon.

Post 55

Swiv (decrepit postgrad)

somehow I can't think he would do it anyway...

Christopher Lee *is* however reported (somewhere on an article I read linked to from TORn) to have said that he hasn't been approached for the part, but would probably say yes if he was.

Hmmm. I saw a film the other day where he displayed a startling talent for comedy, but I'm still not sure he can do 'warm'. Besides which I strongly doubt the producers will want to gamble on casting an 80-year-old as a recurring character in a series of films that won't conclude for at least another five years...

24 is preposterous but oddly engaging. I have to say I prefer West Wing all things considered, got a box set of another 11 episodes arriving tonight as a late Xmas pressie...smiley - biggrin

I have Band of Brothers coming for my late pressie!

I just never got into watching 24 - West Wing I adore.

I can't see Christopher Lee in the part - but I don't *really* want to see McKellan do it, though I'm sure he'd be great - I think he'd be over franchised (or something) with LOTR, and X-Men as well, I want him to do some more "independent films" (I loved Gods and Monsters and Richard III)

I'm still supporting Paul Schofield (Man for all Seasons, and the ghost of Hamlet's father in Mel Gibson's version) for the part.

Oh, fine, but I really had fun watching 24 (spent large amounts of time gasping and going 'No! Really?! That can't be right', and my part of my definition of good Tv is that it gets you involved.)

Who's 80? Not sure if we were on Christopher Lee or Ian McKellan at that moment. How old was Richard Harris, and they picked him.

Bets against Stephen Fry

Post 59

Swiv (decrepit postgrad)

Christopher Lee's 80 - I'm not sure if McKellan is 70 yet

McKellen's in his early 60s. Schofield must be in his early 80s at least, he was middle-aged back when he did A Man for All Seasons. Tom Baker is 68.
