Thanks, Willem. What I loved about it was that most scifi that tries for an ecological message fails to be more than sentimental about nature...
...even though writing about nature is, er, scientifical and all that...
You've got the facts. You use 'em well. (Says somebody who once aced a taxonomy exam, only to forget much of it later......the perils of short-term memory...)

I really enjoyed this, Willem. I am sorry that I don't know enough about wrtiting to advise you on improving it, but I do think you made your point well.

Thanks a lot Dmitri and Elektra. Dmitri, I do have very deep feelings about nature, but I've spent a lifetime learning about it as well. But there's still a lifetime of learning ahead of me as well ...
