Nah that was SB XXXVII - Raiders - Bucs. Fortunately for the refs the Raiders played so awful they couldn't possibly point any fingers for the blowout.
The Hawks blew it their SB chance:
- I didn't notice the the ref blocking anyone on Parker's 76yd run.
- I didn't see the ref committing OPI on Ward's 43-yd reception.
- I didn't see the ref telling Hasselbeck to throw an interception as his team were poised to take the lead through the momentum they'd established.
Sure the call on the runback against Hasselbeck was poor, but they'd blown it by then. The holding calls had O-lineman hooking DE's, the endzone WR clearly extended his arm. If it doesn't help, don't do it.

Why ever did could Sharkey have suggested that XL was the worst ever officiated, if he was willing to so readily agree?

Possibly because he's sick of the subject anyway.
It was months ago and the Seattle messageboards are still infected by Stealer trolls trying to rub our nose in it by pointing out what Pete '@$$hole' Prisco says in his power rankings about next season. I'm sick of the east Coast Media desperately trying to justify the fact that they never show the Hawks any respect.
To be honest I've just about had it wth the NFL. A showcase game where both teams play as badly as they did and was so badly officiated that people are still talking about three months later is pretty poor.
I might tune in to watch the Vikings one man team get smashed rounfd the pitch . I might tune in to watch the the Edge discover what its like to run without an offensive line.
But I won't care anymore. I'll be watching Charlton and probably Saracens and caring about them instead.

C'mon what about the World Cup. There's plenty of chance to moan about poor officiating and how we were robbed by the Germans ... or the Argies ... or the Brazilians ... or the ref ...
