Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

Somebody, somewhere, is bullsh*tt*ing. Given the present state of the league, with salary caps and the like, I can't see any team agreeing to $8 million a year. It'd be suicide.

Offer him $1 more than Ogden gets (it's about the realistic difference between their playing abilities). If he won't take it, cut him loose. Nobody else in the league has the money *and* the need for him right now. Maybe a year warming the couch will sort his attitude out.

We might need his playing but the last thing we need is this attiude on our team.

I think you're right about nobody else being able to pay his demands... I think the Rams are having similar troubles with Pace... If he feels it's beneath him to play football for 6m a year (and a 12-13m signing bonus), lets see how much he can make in the real world eh?

I like the way his agent has stated they want only what Walter deserves. Has he just instigated world peace and cured cancer...? I think not! Like anybody who plays a game for a living deserves what he's asking for...?

Floyd Womack it is then eh Sharkey?smiley - winkeye

Oh dear ... in the end, Big Walt's going to lose this one ... he'll have to take what the team give him. He aint going to sit a season out and lose $6 million. He probably just wants to avoid the effort of training camp smiley - tongueout

Judging by the stuff coming out of Training camp, I think they might stick Hunter in there if Jones doesn't sign.

All bvery well avoiding the hard work of training camp but as last years pathetic performance demonstrated he is not able to do that...

I have a hunch he'll lose this one too... If he carries on in this vein he'll find it hard to find anyone to employ him... except maybe the Lions... Millen might even pay him over what he's asking for...

So, who's getting excited already?

In what sense? I mean, it's objective opinions...

Opinions they may be but not very well informed, particularly from a professional sports writer.

My main beef with it is the inclusion of rookies, guys who are yet to play an NFL down, including exhibition..

Can Carson Palmer really be considered the best back-up QB in the league? Marvin Lewis probably doesn't think so as he has Shane matthews ahead of him on the depth chart. If your starter went down now for an extended period, would you feel more comfortable if Palmer was next in line, or would you prefer Bulger, Feeley, Dilfer, Flutie, Griese, Holcomb or Couch?

Is Trufant really the best 3rd corner in the league, ahead of Buckley, Mickens, McBride and probably a few others...

And Clark as the best 2nd TE... what about Pittsburgh with Riemersma and Breuner. Tyrone Davis in GB, Dudley in TB, Williams in Oakland, Carswell of Denver... and on and on...

All these rookies have potential and should be starters sooner rather than later... but best back-ups before they have even played... c'mon!!!

I'd go with the comment that it's tosh ... I'd also say that it's subjective rather than objective.

It certainly doesn't start well with Carson Palmer. Given his lack of NFL experience. As good as he may seem in training camp, at this moment, I'd prefer a Griese or Beuerlein.

Not familiar with all the different players in different positions, but the indication is that the Raiders have 3 of the best backups in the league. That's some way to go, or perhaps just biased reporting.

Can't argue though with Barrett Robbins being the best backup center in the league, given that he was All-Pro status last season and only relegated due to his medical problems.

I meant subjective. Slip of the mind smiley - doh

For my part it was nice to see that somebody likes some part of our team, albeit I think they have picked the wrong bit. I'm looking for our wideouts to really bite some people in the arse this year.

It's back smiley - smiley Bucs beat the Jets in the first of the meaningless preseason games.

backups?....backups?!!! most of those who played in that game will only be able to dream of the 'back-up' designation as they'll be gone once the final roster cutdown arrives...

answer to an obscure trivia question more like....
