I see the Seahawks have picked up Pete Warrick. Should be an upgrade if he can only catch.

With Engram moved out wide, Warrick'll most likely get the Slot receiver duties. He'll probably be a good fit.

Dunno about Warrick - I'm woefully behind with the ins and out of gridiron this year due to a very long summer of cricket in which both England and Essex won trophies.

I do note however that we finally seemed to have turned the corner defensively - restricting Vick's Falcons to 223 yards followed by an utter ass whoopin' of the Cards seems to indicate we finally have a defence that can play.

Hmm, weren't the cards most pundits pick for the division this year? smiley - rofl Do they never learn?

No kidding. A whole season gone by and nary a gloat to be seen. What's the point of being a fan through all those horrible seasons if you don't get to gloat at a time like this?

smiley - ermAs this is the first time anybody has posted in this forum for the whole season, what would the point of me gloating be? For all I could tell from your online presences, you'd both died (though I'm relieved to see that is not the case).

Besides, as my sole contribution to the 'Hawks season has been not watching them on tv (we don't have Australian Broadcasting chez Shark), and keeping my opinions to myself - a strategy which seems to have worked just fine, thank you very much - was loathe to break what was obviously a winning tactic for the boys. (The only game I watched live was the 'Skins game in the play-off where both teams did there best to stink up the park.)

But yes, the Hawks have finally made a Superbowl, and broken a fair few records on the way (and for the benefit of the East coast Media, yes, Alexander IS that good and we know it. If you took your snouts out of the trough for a second, you'd see that talks between player and club were suspended by mutual consent so as not to distract from the games being played ON the pitch). Holmgren has, without his starting recievers fior most of the season produed the NFL's highest scoring offence and one of the most under-rated QB's in the game. Ray Rhodes, having no starting LB's and very few of his starting Secondary produced a defence that has allowed only one 100 yard rusher all season.

Can we win it? Yes Will we win it? Who knows. I suspect much will depend on Ben Roethlisberger and how his nerves hold up, and how our O-Line copes with the blitz (though I'd expect Cowher to be less blitz happy against a team with a short pass threat like Alexander).

I'm just hoping it's a good game without undue ref interference (and we've suffered a bit of that this year, by all accounts). I certainly won't be unhappy if we lose to Cowher and the Steelers. He and they are a class act.

And I'd just like to point out - Pete Who? A complete non-show, just as I predicted when telling others that our best off-season move was signing Joe Jurevicius.

I'm thrilled to see the Seahawks go to the Super Bowl this season, since the Cowboys never made the playoffs.
Mainly, I like to follow the Seahawks because I'm the GM of them in the online Madden league I'm in, but that's besides the point, really.smiley - smiley

ANyway, two teams full of class meeting in the Super Bowl with no flashy super stars on either team (and by flashy, I mean the likes of Chad Johnson, Randy Moss or T.O.).
Alexander once again had a stellar season, and it will be nice to see hi get to the big dance.
Same with Bettis. Probably the last game of his career will be the Super Bowl in his own home town.

To be honest, I'm not sure who I will root for.
I think the Seahawks will be able to stuff the running game and disrupt the passing game of Roethlisberger, while the Pittsburgh D will be able to stifle Alexander and the passing game of the Seahawks.

I predict a low scoring, but very entertaining Super Bowl this season (which means it's going to be a one-sided blowout smiley - erm).

Oh yeah, did anyone else see the article about Texas A&M throwing a hissy fit about Seattle flying the flag with the number 12 at Qwest field?

I thought they'd been doing that at least since they built Qwest field, and no one's mentioned it before.
But during Play-offs and the big hype before the Super Bowl, they bring it up..

I've heavily criticized Holmgren over the years for being too pass-wacky at times. Hass only threw over 40 times once this season (in which they limped along to a 13-10 victory over Dallas), as compared to four times last year (including playoffs), all, unsurprisingly, losses.

Only twice this year did Alexander fail to carry at least 20 times (predictably, one was a 26-14 loss to JAX in week one, the other a 42-0 blowout in Philly where he was pulled after 19 carries at halftime), as opposed to 8 times last year (including playoffs), in which games they went 3-5. When Alexander carried at least 20 times last year, they were 6-3.

It can be argued that the WR injuries are the best thing that could have happened to this team, as it forced Holmgren to call a more balanced offense, essentially saving him from himself. As a result they scored a ton more points, kept the ball longer, and took the pressure off of their revamped defense... a revelation to which most football fans would say, "Duh!"

Well, Dallas forced us to go pass wacky by stuffing the run. I'm guessing SA wasn't up to speed in week one as he was very late into camp.

Will Pittsburgh do what Dallas did and risk being burnt over the top? Hass and the WR's are a totally different proposition now than they were then.

We'll see. It's going to be interesting, to say the least, but it will be a defensive struggle, so I guess whichever team arrives in the 4th with the freshest D will probably squeak it.

And this pathetic and puerile piece is about typical of the arse like comments being written by most of the east Coast media;

But hey, if the Seahawks vs the USA, so be it. Thats how it was for both Play-off games as well, and it does seem to put some steel in the boys.

"Holmgren has, without his starting recievers fior most of the season"

I get it now ... the past couple of years they were awful because of all the drops. Get rid of the people who drop and ....

Have to say that I'm struggling to root for the Seahawks. I don't think I've ever rooted for the NFC team in a Super Bowl, except the 49ers; but worse something about all being that perpetual thorn in our side in the AFC West sticks with me. Go Steelers!

PS I'm happy for you though. It's a good feeling to see your team in the big one. (But not a week later if they lose. Can't bring myself to even watch the high/lowlights of 37).
PPS I always take a look around to see if anyone's posted anything.
