Amfoot Trivia Question 0011
FiedlersFizzle Posted Nov 26, 2002
Ron Brown of the LA Rams and Willie Gault of Chicago!!!
erm... or was it Renaldo Neihmiah (if that's how you spell it?)
... or did he do the 110m hurdles?

At last ... I got him stumped.
Ron Brown is correct, but you need to name both to get the point ...

I'm going away to think about this in a darkened room...

I'd guess it's either Sam Graddy or Calvin Smith, since I doubt that Carl Lewis ever played in the NFL.
I'd guess Calvin Smith alongside Ron Brown.

I'm giving the point and the to TVRHoG as he mentioned Sam Graddy who became a WR at the Raiders. I can't possibly bear to see FF extend his lead further ...
(I just hope he knew that from memory and didn't go looking on Google or somewhere)

I can't accept the point. I did in deed head to a site where the 4x100 team was listed, that's why I could name them all. And the fact that I didn't know that Sam Graddy played in the NFL and only guessed at Calvin Smith should have given me away.

I'm giving you the point FF. I cheated. I'm bad. I know it. I am so bad at trivia.

Thanx VRHG!!
Although we'd best leave this up to BBS (If I lose I'll blame it on the officiating - another Dolphin trait...)

Well it's a toughie ... so let's have a tie-break (open to everybody) as the original question was broken.
Name another NFL star who won a silver medal in athletics at the 1984 Olympics?

Henry Ellard or Willie 'Flipper' Anderson.
Which is really two answers, but hey, I think I deserve a handicap...

Was it in a field event such as shot-put? A lineman perhaps?!!

Both were sprinters, methinks. Ellard was quick but couldn't catch a ball. Willie Anderson wasn't much better either...
Amfoot Trivia Question 0011
FiedlersFizzle Posted Nov 27, 2002
I don't think it was either of those players, Willie Anderson would have likely been too young and I have no good reason why it wasn't Ellard except that I have never heard of it being him - I might be wrong!!!
I'll disagree with your statements that they couldn't play. Ellard ranks in the top five (I think, definately top ten) all time receiving yards and led both the Rams and Redskins in receptions a number of times. He also played in a pro bowl or two and in 1988 led the NFL in receiving yards.
Anderson, while not having a particularly long career, broke 1000 yards more than once and in 1989 set the NFL single game yardage record of 336 on 15 catches in an OT thriller in New Orleans. Unfortunately, injuries curtailed a promising career after a non-descript stay in Indianapolis.
BBS - Was it Willie Gault?!! (hanging on to this name like it was the last peanut in the desert!!!)
