Which of the teams to win the Superbowl had the worst regular season record? (No looking at the Record & Fact book). What was it?

Logic tells me it must be the Raiders, the only team to ever win a Superbowl having qualified as wild card team.
It probably isn't though.

Actually, Blues, I believe the Broncos won as a wild card team when they defeated the Packers in SB XXXII. So that's my guess.

TBH I haven't checked the R&F book yet for the answer but I know the Raiders went 12-4 in 1980-81 when they were wild-card winners, and I know of at least 1 team with a worse W-L pct who won the SB ... So it ain't them ...

Better clarify the question ... we're talking in terms of official W-L pct. Just remembered that 1982 was only a 9-game season, '87 was a 15-gamer, and pre-1978 was 14-games.

Just been checking ...
Broncos were 12-4 as WC qualifiers in 1997-98 (2nd to KCC who were 13-3), while the Raiders were actually 11-5 in 1980 (tied but 2nd to the Chargers).
BUT there was at least 1 Superbowl champion with a worse record. Who was it?

Ravens probably only went 10-6. I know they had to do the hard way on the road...

Not the Ravens either. They were 12-4, WC winners in 2000. 2nd in division to Titans 13-3.

San Francisco 1988, won division with 10-6 record over the LA Rams before trouncing Minnesota and Chicago in the playoffs and winning a classic over the Bengals!!! Worst record in a non-strike year with 16 game schedule.

Yup, I'm new... well as a member although I've read H2G2 for some years.
Bit of an AF anorak I'm afraid, unusual for a native Englishman who didn't see a game until I was 14 (Although that is now half of my time on this crowded Earth)
Give us some real teasers and I'll try and answer promptly with no reference to the aforementioned book!!
