Followed a link from the UESP Skyrim Wiki and found a browser strategy game that is actually quite social. I was lucky enough to get invited into a mature, friendly and helpful alliance almost immediately.

This browser game is actually turning out to be more interesting than I thought to begin with.
Got into a social Alliance on my first day of playing it, which helps a lot.
Got a clearly defined enemy to bring us together to stand against united, which also helps.
I've almost got the resources now to build my second city, which I've decided to name ISIS, which stands for Independence (name of alliance) Secret Intelligence Service. Because I seem to have impressed my fellow alliance members with my - often very detailed - information on this and that...
