Although Strata is about a flat circular world, it is not the Discworld. It is a mechanical world which is made to look as if magic occurs on it, but it is all done with machines.
Strata was a spoof based on Larry Niven's Ringworld, but it was certainly one of the ideas that inspired Pratchett's later Discworld series.
