Pretty good, thanks, you?
I have lots of reading to do, but for some reason instead of getting an early night I decided to stay up and finish two entries I've had on the go. Why did I do that?

Good grief no. I wasn't doing it last night, it's hard enough to take in normally, never mind at midnight!
How are you this morning?

A little ropey around the edges, but generally pretty good.
that's what I get for staying online too late into the night and then trying to do a school run!
I been looking at your space!
Very impressive credentials. I also have a love of History, although alas, not the memory to retain it!
A mate of mine is also a part time tudor peasant, and occasional Civil war reinactor - you would have loved her wedding! everyone from Tudor Gentry to Roman warriors - quite a spectical for the photo's!

I've alway's been a fan of the late, great D.A.
I blame my dad! He had the trilogy (of 4)
and introduced me to it when I was about 8 -ish.
When all the kids in my class were doing book reviews on Edith Blyton and R. Dahl, I was trying to convince my teacher that Dirk Gently really WASN'T unsuitable for my age group!
But I've only just found out that the guide has become a reality!
It's fantastic!
I just have to find my way around a little more before I decide on what my entries are going to consist of.

Well, I only found the site Yesterday, so most of it is a bit mystfying at the moment.
I've been trying to work on my space and play around with the layout and pictures etc.
I'm sure I'll get there in the end.
In the meantime I'd like to know a little more about the other aspects, the post (newspaper - is that right?) and the other writing formats.
Also, what is the 'keepers' and the thing about the 'gods' (Is that right?)
Any advice about anything onsite would be welcome!
At the moment this is my only conversation running, (let me just check how it works) do I write to someone (a friend) directly or just wait for someone to get hold of me?
I'm a bit of an Interweb virgin, so I'm still learning the correct ettiquette.

If you want to start a conversation with just one person, probably the best way to do it is to go to their page and click 'discuss this entry'.
For the layout and pictures problem, if you go to my page I have a section of links, there are a few there which will help you.
The Post is basically our online magazine that comes out every fortnight. You can get to it from the Front Page or by going to <./>thepost</.>.
The Keepers and Gods are just things set up by researchers. They don't mean anything, it just gives you a funny title if you want one.
As far as writing formats goes, you can write anything you like, as long as it doesn't break the <./>HouseRules</.> by clicking on 'contribute'. If it's good, follows the <./>WritingGuidelines</.> and hasn't already been done on h2g2, you might want to submit it to PeerReview. There other researchers will read it, make comments to improve it and so on. After a while, one of our Scouts might pick it for inclusion in the Edited Guide. Then it goes to a subeditor and finally it will appear on the Front Page. If you don't want it edited or it's not suitable, you can just leave it how it is and it will still come up in searches and so on.
I think there's more info on the different ways you can contribute by writing on the 'contribute' page; hope that helps!

Thanks for the tips, I hope you don't mind I've added you to my 'friends'
Oh, and thanks for the footnote on your page about how my name keeps popping up, I was beginning to think I was being watched!
- I'm not paranoid, but everybody knows who I am!
Also It's nice to meet another Grammer fanatic!
I've been on my own lifelong search for great words of the English Language - (I can't always spell them correctly, but I do appreciate a good word!)
Do you know whatever happened to the word 'Oblong' It would seem my son is only being taught 'rectangle' at school now, what a great loss.
