I've just checked out the phone situation - my provider would have charged me premium rates to connect to the company we were looking at, and also several others I looked at, but One Tel have a normal London number and I can dial the USA at the weekend for 8p a minute, so that's 
What I could kick myself for is that I've been registered with One Tel for about 2 years - I used to use them as an ISP and I still do use them for landline calls, and I never thought to check their international mobile rates last time. Bad Captain Kebab, silly Captain Kebab! 
Still, now I know.

And I'm planning on putting it in an embroidery hoop and decorating it to put on the tree next year

Sure--I can start laundry a little later--sleep in, shower, and be sorting it when the phone rings
Then I'll get to either stand in line at the post office, or bat my big brown eyes at Tom and ask if he can while I'm at the laundromat...
