>>Banning of ideas and the like for elections just is not practical.

How do you mean Nick? It's what the current policy is and from what I've seen it's been pretty much administered that way.

What the hell are you even doing here Nick?

I can't believe the tolerance of people here for you even taking part in these discussions.

I think we should 100% exclude some people.

Re non-English languages. There's a conversation about that, in Magrathea I think. The upshot was that if polyglots can cover the moderation then the site could be opened up to non-English posts, perhaps in specific places (like the Polyglot Plaza). It was an interesting thread, worth a read.

I'd love to improve my French and German (but not Welsh, sorry - there are limits). Maybe some sort of hybrid would be acceptable: allow translated F & G postings anywhere on site, but allow untranslated postings in designated language areas, where we have volunteer language speakers who can keep an eye on them.

I think any researcher onsite should take part in these conversations if they want to. Isn't that the point of the HRs? That as long as you work within them you're part of the community.

I think the community itself should say you crossed a line and you're not wanted here to make civilised discussions about our future.

I call it pathetic appeasement.

I'd prefer if Nick gave his opinions here.

Re: #41, when a present election is going on across a large or small country, I don't think personal opions should be discounted. But blatant party propoganda should be disallowed. Just my two-pence

Sorry Effers if my presence is still a bother. I am sure that it is a two-way street for some

For me, as long as any researcher is allowed on site, and they're posting in this thread in a civil and reasonably on-topic way, I can't see the problem.

The community doesn't have a problem with anyone posting here as far as I can tell. I'm sure we'd know if they did smiley - winkeye

Why?

The flooding of the site with blatant party-political propaganda would be prevented by the ban on flooding, surely? I wouldn't be concerned if someone representing a party gave the party line on a particular issue.

Yep noohootoo lets have them all in making up our future rules.

See Nick sent me a horrible annonymous email..that upset me. Only months later did I guess. By some miracle he admitted to it.

But the community chooses to ignore this *COLD HARD FACT*

But yeah you people carry on your dialogue with him

Yep personal. I had to live with the personal all alone getting it off hootoo not knowing who had done it.

Now you allow this person to take part in our future.

I 'tolerate' Nick because he has always been very polite to me, because a number of people I respect know him and his wife personally and say they are good people, and because I know nothing against him.
