A Conversation for My Weight Loss Journey

I have been a fatty all my life and since my last name begins with F the obvious nickname was a bit of a burden .
Round about my late forties I got very plump ( lol ) indeed --
(pauses for a moment to conjugate :
I am Plump You are Fat He is Obese )
and by the time I retired , I was due for , and had , the mandatory heart attack , fortunately a minor one.
But I have lost weight by sensible diet and am keeping it off-- and I can only give this advice -- DON'T overdo it-- DON 'T fad diet --just eat a little less of what you normally eat , being careful of fats and sugars -- but the key word is CAREFUL -- don't cut anything out altogether.
And exercise GENTLY but regularly .
Regards and best wishes for success

LOL at conjugation!
thanks for the support - I have not cut out ANYTHING! I still have my wine at dinner, the key here is to stop at a small glass, not imbibe the whole bottle, then go after cheese when I am slightly inebriated!! I even have chocolate (shock horror), but again I go for quality here not quantity. EG, my favourite chocolate is Lindt, so I buy a single small ball at the shops, rather than a whole packet. I also like those Golden D'Or elephant chocolates that you can buy in single serves also. Much better than opening a packet then being tempted to polish it off!
I find Weight Watchers really promotes this philosophy of weight loss, and has been very successful for me so far.
I never had the nicknames, which was fortunate, as that would have been devastating. Although, my well-meaning mother and grandmother used to make "gentle hints" or comments, which made me feel very unattractive. The sad thing is, when I look back on photos from that period, I look like such a slim, attractive child! I love my grand-dad, though, he used to call them off saying "Stop hassling her, she has a lovely little figure."
Alas, that "lovely little figure" did not last past my adolescence!
As for exercise, I am walking at least half an hour each day now, as well as a regular weekly game of tennis with Kev. So I am feeling much, much fitter than I have for years!

Great !!!
Chocolate -- I like it dark and bitter ( and ... and... and... , but I will stick to d and b ) so I can actually drool a little over a small square of cooking chocolate -- something with less sugar-- taken with coffee. Diabetes , you see !
Weighed myself this morning and have lost 4 kg since I last used the same scales at my physio-terrorist's rooms
Yippee , I cry .
and in my excitement I may have posted twice

Nope , not deliberate -- but the result of just not eating so much , not eating the wrong things and fairly regular swimming + my anti- arthritis "stretching " exercises
Who knows -- I may yet develop a 74 year old 6 pack -- lol at the stretch of imagination involved

Hye brislib- it's been a while, but I have had a wonderful nudge by another hootooer, and thought I might dust off the cobwebs from this page.
I have been yo-yoing around the 87kg mark now for 6 months, and have just decided to get that fiery motivation back. I hope you are doing well since we last spoke?
Key: Complain about this post
