The Acrostic Poem banner

The Acrostic Poem has been a long-standing challenge, mainly between B'Elana and PedanticBarSteward. A while ago, they were generous enough to open it up to the rest of us duffers, and we kept up as best we could.
The following is my reaction to the shocking and sad news that we won't be hearing from our friend PBS again. It's sort of by way of a toast. I hope he would have liked it.

Not an Acrostic Poetry Challenge: PedanticBarSteward

Plenty of people you meet on the net
Even the ones you'd like to forget,
Dwell in a place somewhere safe in your mind,
And this one is witty, and that one is kind,
None of them face-known, but all of them real,
Text-talk is cheap, but some guys are the deal,
Intelligent, sensitive, willing to share
Crumbs of knowledge, their world Out There.
Belatedly noticing, 'Where is my friend?'
All posting has stopped. Can this be the end?
Regretting the things you left unsaid,
Say, buddy, your stories knocked 'em dead,
The pipe-dwelling genie, I laughed myself sore,
Each poem you sent left them begging for more.
We wished you lived closer, we wished you could chat
All hours of the day and night, but we knew that
Restless spirits like yours knew just where they should be:
Down the road to adventure: thanks and farewell from me.
