I think spelling is a bit of an issue here, and in many other places in this h2g2 universe. sometimes it's really hard to know what someone is really trying to say. Spelling errors because you don't know how to spell the words are okay, but grotesquely repeated typos can really change the entire meaning of some things. Just a friendly warning, next time I might call in another airstrike!
I'm just so darn impulsive sometimes.

I may have just gotten a little wrapped there, being impulsive again, and not realized that I was only on the fourth page when I hit that reply button.

I'll have to admit that I'm american. So how does the school sistem work over there in the motherland? Over here we start Kindergardten, which I think is german, at the age of six. Then after 180 days of school they have a few months of vacation, then we move on to the first grade. Each year after that is just the next in line, i.e. second grade, third grade, ect... K through 5 is elementary school. Then 6 through 8 is "Middle School" or junior high. 9-12 is high school. After that is college.

well in scotland... because its slightly different from the english system and noone understands it really... you start nursery at 3 till 4 then primary school from 4 till 11 or 12 depending on your birthday
then secondery school from 12 or 13 till 17 or 18 but you can leave when your 16 if you really want to...

So Skenvoy, I've noticed that quite a few conversations get way off topic on many of these threads, how 'bout creating a staff room where we can sit around and flap our lips(metaphorically speaking).
And while we're on that note, does anyone here like the band The Darkness, or are they only populare in America?

well in answer to your questions the darkness is quiet popular here, though I prefer metal myself... the english school system is nursery type things from about the age of 3-4 (though I don't think thats complusory) then primary school from 5-11 secondary from 11-18 though you can drop out at 16. then you can go to university after that if you want to...

I think that 16 year olds can drop out here as well, but I don't know why many people would, someone would be hardpressed to get a job at McDonalds wothout proof of highschool graduation.
The Darkness isn't really very populare over here, least not in my neck of the woods. I put some of their songs on one of the cds that we play at my work and I'm not sure, but I think that some of my coworkers were a little unappreciative of their music. I'm more of a swing/country/classic rock/blues/alternative rock type of person.

if you drop out here at 16 you've normally taken the first of two possible sets of nationally recognised exams and a lot of people find they can get employment...

Yes, a GED is the document saying that you pass the highschool curriculum, and if you don't get it by graduating highschool you can generally get it through another program, like Highschool equivalents in college. The thing is that Highschool is free and college costs a lot!
