They should do so, I think. But the atheist would probably have to fend off a lot of unwelcome attempts to save his or her soul!

Twelve different religions? What are they going to put in, assuming that they don't split up Christianity into Catholic and Protestant, Buddhism into Theravada(sp?) and Mahayana(sp?), and all the other little sub- religions in the house. Will there be a devil worshipper? That would be interesting.

Ormy - you think all the different religions would get on fine as long as no atheist is thrown in? Okay, I suspect there would be a certain amount of attempted conversions (depending on the make up of the group), but I'm not sure a nonbeliever would bear the brunt of it.
Anyhow, my guess is that they'll have 3 Christians (1 Catholic and two protestant, maybe anglican and isn't there a Dutch Reformed Church. Alternatively they might include someone who's Eastern Orthodox).
Almost certainly a Muslim, a Hindu and a Buddhist. Possibly an atheist or agnostic. Pagan, likely. Satanist? Depends what sort of show they're aiming for. Could also be a Jehovah's Witness, Mormon, um, I'll think of some more.

Not quite sure how to answer that, Pastey...
3 out of 12 is hardly a majority, and besides I didn't say it would be fair, it's just what I'd expect from a show from western Europe, where Christianity is the major religion. They do, after all, want ratings and disagreements between Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims is hardly going to hold an audience that doesn't understand the difference. C'est la vie.

True enough. But are differences between Catholics and Protestants going to be all that interesting? Wouldn't hold me.

Dunno, but that's a problem with the concept of the show, not the choice of contestants.
*thinks*
*imagines a debate about consubstantiation versus transsubstantiation*
I think I see what you mean.

I might get slightly fired up when the theists (is that a word?) try to convert the atheist. I might end up shouting things at the screen, such as "But that's missing the point! The point is, you can build things with cranes /without/ the need for skyhooks!"

A good response, but I'm suprised it took so long to mention the Jews. there are so many religions it's hard to list. infact I even think that everyone draws there lines at difrent points, so it's a bit of a blur.

I think the reason it took me so long to mention the Jews is probably becuase, to my mind, in general they just get on with their lives without interferring with others.
I know that there is a major occurance that could be used to argue against this, but I mean in general in my experience.

Ah well, I'm sure it's more a case of people interfearing with the jews then anyone else.
Major religions then?
