Ephesian open-air toilet or Turque hole in the ground - which is best? There's only one way to find out...
I'll go for the Ephesian

Yeah but Icy, it doesn't offer much in the way of privacy. I'd prefer a hole, if it was a 'single' at least.
Thanks for sharing this Bel. Descriptions of hotels, ruins and Ferengi really enlightening.

No but I have to rise early to feed cats. Unfortunately they start harrassing me at 4 in the morning, but I sleep on the sofa so they don't wake D.

When I was at Ephesus I saw a wild tortoise running (crawling) free near the toilets. That was quite amusing.

We saw huge tortoises when we were in Milet. No toilets near them, though (if you don't count 'al fresco' ones. )

Phillipi is another great place for spotting outdoor toilets.
Elektra and I saw the one the Apostle Paul used.
This was, of course, a truly spiritual moment.

I might have. Don't know if I can find it, though. That was 25 years ago.
I remember taking one of the jail - you know, the one with 'earthquake damage'? They had propped up the roof. (Philippi's not too far from the usual epicentre, a lake near Amphipoli.)
