Have it with onion gravy. That's the best. There's a nice recipe I normally use a variant of (depending on what's in the cupboard and how lazy I'm feeling) under "Roast Onion Gravy" in, I believe, the first of Delia Smith's "How To Cook" books.

I'd say... Beans are nice, so is grevy, it's one of the best dishes I can eat with eggs (because the egg protiens get bound to the flour in the extream heat).
infact I might just go and see if I have the ingreedence to make some...
I usualy mix chives or some herbs just for a bit of verity. I remeber helping my dad make this one. it's an old family meal.

If you make extra batter then you can make a pudding at the same time - either a sweet Yorkshire pudding served with lashings of golden syrup and sugar (very fattening!), with dried fruit included - or pancakes.
I agree, MaW, that onion gravy goes really well. I have been known to fry plenty of onions to go with the meal and it is only a short step produce a gravy from some of them. Alternatively I think that Bi*to make a pretty good instant onion gravy mix nowdays.

Onion gravy:
- roasted or fried onions
- plain flour
- beef oxo
- mustard powder
- worcestershire sauce
- boiling water
I'm sure you can work out what to do with them
