I have an old cookery book from the 1930's and it gives 'variations' on Toad in the Hole-including 'chop' Toad in the Hole, where instead of the traditional bangers, you substitute small lamb chops. I have never tried this myself, but it seems like a good idea.

and of course, you may like to try a sweetened batter and apple toad, for pudding of course smiley - cake

I guess that you could try any variety of meat or fruit if you were careful to make sure it cooked through properly. smiley - smiley
